In 2019, the government of the People’s Republic of China announced its initiative to create one of the world’s most notable financial and technology powerhouses in the Southeastern region known as the Greater Bay Area. Comprised of nine cities and the administrative areas of Hong Kong and Macau, Greater Bay Area is already home to world-class players in finance, the internet and communications, finance, insurance, and real estate. Chinese authorities seek to dominate next-generation technologies and financial systems while creating a China Silicon Valley. Its plan calls for the Greater Bay Area to evolve into a vibrant world-class city cluster and a globally influential innovation and technology hub by 2022, with even more extensive development following through 2035.

Spend an evening with three native-born Chinese experts on finance, technology, and intellectual property who will explore the realities of the Greater Bay Area.

This provocative session is moderated by Jim Senn, Professor Emeritus, Georgia State University.

·         Henry Yu, President, The Hong Kong Association of Atlanta & President of the National US Hong Kong Business Association

·         Dr. Lei Fang, Professor, Emory Law School

·         G. Tong Zhou, Associate Vice Provost for International Initiatives, Georgia Institute of Technology
